HOME EVENTS THE SOCIETY GET INVOLVED EXPERIENTIAL EDUCATION FRONTLINE WELCOME WEEK

Social Sciences Quarterly Newspaper
FRONTLINE

The first issue of the Frontline for 2008-2009 (and it's a big one...40 pages!) will be available during Welcome Week for pickup. Also, the MSSS will be hiring two co-editors and a photo editor to work on the rest of the 2008-2009 issues of the Frontline. Applications will be available at the Soc Sci office during Welcome Week!

As editors, we have developed some preferences when it comes to formatting for the Frontline. When you submit, and if you keep to these guidelines it makes the whole process a lot easier for us when we go to collaborate everything, so please keep them in mind. It keeps us from going insane. Seriously. We realize we sound a little bit like jerks, but if you're ever in our position you'll understand why we've made such demands.

Here they are:

- a subject other than Frontline when you save your document (racearticle vs. frontlinearticle)

- something other than Frontline in the subject heading of the email

- not indenting paragraphs in your piece; double spacing is best

- a brief description of what kind of picture(s) you want for your article

- OR attaching the pictures you want as a separate document

What sorts of material we are accepting?: interviews, opinion pieces, editorials, anything to do with being a Social Sciences student (to be very vague), pieces on being an exchange student, photography, information/news about the local Hamilton community, upcoming events, or anything else you may think would be a worthwhile read.

What we are NOT accepting: anything that is offensive based on someone's creed, religion, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation, race, gender or disability. We will also not accept pieces previously published in other sources.

The beauty of being a Soc Sci student means we can cover a lot of different topics in a lot of different ways! We'd love to see what everyone can come up with!

If you have any other questions, comments, tips, mean and nasty comments or information you want to send our way (as well as submissions) fire off an email to: socscifrontline@gmail.com.

We are currently in the process of getting the issues from the 2006-2007 academic year available for everyone to read. Look forward to seeing issues from this year as well. This process seems to have been taking longer than we expected, but we promise the results will be well worth it.
